Okinawa Scooter To Get Subsidy Up To 26000

The Indian government had become more conscious about the increasing number of vehicles on the road and they got more conscious about the environmental changes that might be caused. When the number of the vehicle increases the air pollution will also go up which is not good for the humans.

The government cannot stop people from buying new vehicles, so they decided to encourage people to switch to eco-friendly vehicles, which are the electric cars. The government had planned to give subsidies to the eco friendly vehicles under Frame-2 (faster adaptation and manufacture of hybrid and electric vehicles) scheme. This subsidy is given under certain conditions.

The Okinawa scooters are the first electric two wheeler makers to satisfy their conditions and got eligible for subsidy. The two models of Okinawa, which is going to get subsidy are i-praise and Ridge+. They both are powered by Lithium-ion battery. Both models are expected to get a subsidy range between Rs 17,000 to Rs 26,000 depending on their battery capacity.

This will make the cost of the scooter cheaper than Honda Activa 125 the best selling two wheeler of similar kind. If a certain vehicle wants to receive the subsidy it should fall under certain conditions. The product should at least have a top speed of 40kmph, it should go at least 80km per full charge. It must use lithium-ion battery pack and must have 50% of local parts.

The i-praise runs with water proof brush less DC motor. It can run at a top speed on 75kmph. The motor is supported by a 2.9 KWH battery pack which can range up to 160-180 per full charge. It takes 2-3 hours to achieve a full charge. The Ridge+ has a top speed of 55Kmph and can run up to 90-100km per full charge. The government is encouraging us to go Eco-friendly , and we need to support them by changing our ride.
